I first met, Richard Long when he needed to move his artwork to a new location. 50 years of work filled Richie’s studio. The move exposed a deep emotional bond to the space he created – anyone entering this world fully understood. His creativity touched every inch of his surroundings. The painted walls, built- in furniture, window treatments, painted and dyed canvas drops, fixtures and hidden doorways reflected Richie’s endless ideas. I’ll never forget the multicolor yarn that wrapped exposed wiring throughout the massive loft.
Richie wanted video production services to capture the essence of his studio and the dialogue that took place there. As fellow video producers and artists we quickly became friends.
Together we collaborated on several projects. I tapped into his theatrical side to play the narrator of a play I produced. The play encompassed many forms of visual and performing arts. But that’s a story for another time.
I developed the concept for the Plein-Air Travel brochure. Richie painted exactly what I envisioned.
I wrote copy for Richie’s brochures and video segments. Not because he could not, but because he trusted my interpretation. He wanted to paint.
I designed the tri-fold and wrote the copy promoting the educational video program targeting children.
